What is “Prevodorant?”
Prevodorant™ the trademark is a portmanteau built on the presumptive goal of using a product (an “-odorant”) to Prevent body odor from occurring.
Prevodorant: the products are a gel solution to apply to armpits or any other skin area on your body that contain mineral ingredients known to have beneficial broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties. It leaves a protective, anti-microbial barrier that kills bacteria to prevent odors from starting in the first place. That barrier can last all day and longer (some users have reported 3+).
How is “Prevodorant” pronounced? I suppose that depends on whether you pronounce the word “Prevent” with a long-ee sound in the first syllable, or a short -e. We pronounce with a short -e however. Pronounce the word deodorant, then drop the “de-” and add, instead, “prev” and you’ve got it right. Tell all your friends! :)
Body odor is caused when bacteria interact with our natural sweat chemistry (more detailed explanation on that in our Science blog post…). Our proprietary blend of silver, copper, zinc and some essential oils have proven to kill the bacteria that cause body odor. Those ingredients are not only safe, but the copper and zinc are also dietary necessities, and they might actually help strengthen your immune system. Research published in 2005 proved that harmful chemicals and drugs get through our skin into blood, lymph, and fat cells and diagrammed how that process works (called “dermal clearance”). That’s unfortunate considering how common deodorant usage is around the world.
Users of Simplify by Kim Prevodorants report overwhelmingly positive outcomes, which is not surprising considering meta-research on the effectiveness of silver and copper to kill bacteria, fungus and mold identified at least over 650 different microorganisms killed by those transitional metals. So whatever bacteria might be doing the most harm to your hygiene goals (we are all different), these ingredients are poised to do their jobs magnificently. The benefits most often reportered by our users are:
1) body odor elimination,
2) no skin irritation compared to other “natural deodorants” on the market they had tried, and
3) disappearance of persistent rashes (often caused by natural deodorants with high pH).
Note that there is another trademark protected word in the industry; “Preodorant.” Preodorant has a different meaning, and those products are presumed to operate differently (the primary focus apparently not being “prevention” of body odor? We’re not sure, you’ll have to ask them…), and we want to distinguish between the trademarks found in the industry so as to prevent confusion. Currently, only Simplify by Kim has earned the right to use the wordmark “Prevodorant” on their products, though possibly other competing products may demonstrate the functionality and healthy ingredient lists necessary to qualify and then license use of the term. As of today, if the “Prevodorant” you buy does not have the brand logo “Simplify by Kim,” please notify us and understand that it is not authorized.
